An Apple A Day...
Well, I don’t know about you, but when I think about September, I think about apples! The apple tree is about as American as it gets, and whether you have one tree in your back yard or you gather the family together to go apple picking at a nearby orchard, there’s no better time than the present.
Biting into a crunchy Macintosh or a juicy Red Delicious, there’s nothing like the taste of an apple right off the branch. Don’t have time to go picking? In the northeast, you don’t have to drive too far to find a farm stand or even a grocery store with an abundance of local apples at this time of year.
So then the question becomes; what do you do with all this deliciousness once you get it home? I’m glad you asked, because I’ve put together a few favorite recipes that I highly recommend:
Classic Apple Pie (from Fine Cooking)
Best Cinnamon Apple Chips (from Delish)
Apple Crisp Cheesecakes (from Delish)
Caramel Apple Fruit Pizza (from The Gunny Sack)
Light Kielbasa Apple Onion Skillet (from A Spicy Perspective)
Chocolate Turtle Apple Slices (from Mom Loves Baking)
