For the Love of Food
Raise your hand if you LOVE food…Whether you consider yourself a “foodie”, love to cook or bake, or like me…just like to eat, food not only sustains us, but entertains us. Think about all the buzz a new restaurant gets when it’s just opening, or the diner that’s been on the outskirts of town for years and serve “the BEST ______” (fill in the blank).
I just saw an advertisement for a new reality show where food trucks compete for top billing. There’s TV shows about gourmet chef’s and cupcake wars. And this time of year you can’t help but hear about food festivals. In just the last few weeks there has been an Asparagus Festival, a Strawberry Festival and a Peach Festival nearby. Coming up in the next several weeks; a Garlic Festival and a Pickle Festival.
While I wish I had time to attend them all, I don’t, but I try to get to at least one each year. They are fairly similar in that, there are numerous booths and trucks offering one or more tasty recipes made with the star ingredient. There may also be local wineries and breweries that tag along to quench your thirst. And you wouldn’t believe how many products you can find with either a picture of your favorite fruits and vegetables, or some funny little saying on an apron, that you MUST have for your favorite cook.
