Roses are Red, Violets are Blue...
Flowers are just about the most symbolic show of affection there is for Valentine’s Day (unless you have a sweet tooth…and then it’s definitely chocolate!)
Historically, a dozen red roses have been the “go-to” for this holiday of love, but there are so many other floral options out there, it’s difficult not to mention them as a possibility for your intended.
Consider these alternatives:
~ Pink, purple, white or peach colored roses
~ Lily’s or orchids (make sure the recipient is not allergic, though!)
~ Tulips
~ Mixed flowers
~ Flowering plant

In addition to showing someone you care, fresh cut flowers add fragrance and a fresh look to any room. For those of us in the northeast, they are a reminder that somewhere out there, spring is sure to grace us with it’s presence soon. Or if you want something a little more lasting, a flowering plant, if cared for properly, can last months or even years.
If you are a die-hard traditionalist, then by all means, go with the red roses; but if you or your loved one are looking for something a little different this year, head to your local florist or check out the online flower companies. You’ll be surprised at the choices you have!
Happy Valentine’s Day!
