Soups and Stews that Make a Meal
There’s nothing like making up a big pot of soup or stew in the winter. The smell when you walk in the house, the hearty taste on your tongue and the warm, fuzzy feeling that only comfort food brings!
Chase away the doldrums with a hearty turkey vegetable soup, a spicy chili or a classic fish stew. Make a double or triple batch and then freeze individual portions to heat up on those busy nights when you just don’t have time to cook.
Here are some of my favorites:
Turkey Vegetable Soup (from Kitchn) * add noodles, rice or barley for a heartier soup
Beef Chili (from MyRecipes) * substitute ground turkey for ground beef for a leaner chili
Seafood Chowder (from Smells Like Home) * substitute light cream or milk for a thinner consistency
Broccoli Cheese Soup (from Spend With Pennies)
Split Pea and Ham Soup (from Striped Spatula)
