Spice It Up!
Spices (and herbs) are a fun way to flavor your recipes throughout the year, but somehow in the fall, I find myself using more in my creations than at any other time of the year. Whether you like it hot and spicy, savory or a little on the sweet side, there are numerous entrées, casseroles, quick breads and even cocktails you can make with a touch of some herbs and spices.
Not sure where to start? Here are some recipes to spice things up!
Main Course
Butternut Lasagna with Mushrooms and Sage (from Feasting at Home)
(This is on of my personal favorites!)

A Scotsman’s Shepherd’s Pie (from Allrecipes)

Beef and Apricot Tagine (from Erica Julson)

Perfect Herb Roasted Chicken (from A Family Feast)

Sides
Cowboy Caviar (from Chili Pepper Madness)

Savory Sweet Potatoes (from Savoring Today)

Breads & Muffins
Cinnamon Swirl Quick Bread (from Sally's Baking Addiction)

Pumpkin Spice Muffins (from A Sweet Pea Chef)

Beverages
Banana Spice Smoothie (from EatingWell)

Amaretto Cardamom Cocktail (from Cocktail Contessa)

I always love fresh herbs and spices whenever possible. The flavor is just more robust. But keep dried herbs and spices on hand as well for those last minute dinner or baking decisions. You can never go wrong by adding some bold, fun flavors to your meals!
