St. Patty's Day Recipes (other than corned beef & cabbage)

St. Patty's Day Recipes (other than corned beef & cabbage)

If you’re like me, once a year you break out your large boiler or your slow cooker, and you make the traditional corned beef & cabbage with all the fixings. Carrots, potatoes and onions. Irish soda bread. And perhaps you wash it all down with a pint of Guinness. And trust me, I look forward to that meal so much. If fills the house with savory smells and whether or not you are Irish, you feel like you are for a day.

But maybe you’re not Irish. Or maybe you don’t like corned beef & cabbage (gasp!). Or maybe you just want to try something different this year. Well, you’ve got the luck of the Irish because there are a plethora of traditional Irish foods that will have your mouth watering and your senses on overload.

Check out some of these scrumptious recipes:

Ballycotton Fish Chowder  (from Cafe Johnsonia)

Dublin Cottle  (from Olivia’s Cuisine)

Irish Pasties  (from Living Well Spending Less)

Irish Whiskey Braised Short Ribs  (from What Should I Make For…)

Shepherd’s Pie or Cottage Pie  (from Natasha’s Kitchen) *

*note: Shepherd’s Pie is traditionally made with lamb; Cottage Pie uses ground beef

Any of these delightful dishes will make for a tasty St. Patrick’s Day dinner, or any night of the week for that matter! Sláinte!
