The Many Flavors of Eggnog
If you’re like me, you only drink eggnog at this time of year. I never have eggnog at a dinner party in February, or order it at a restaurant, and I certainly don’t mix up a batch for a backyard summer barbecue. But during the holidays, it’s one of those things, like gingerbread houses and tree shaped sugar cookies with frosting; I just have to have some!
Whether you make your own eggnog from scratch (see the first recipe below), or buy it in a carton at the grocery store, eggnog can be a very versatile holiday beverage. As my grandmother would have said, “There are lots of ways to ‘doctor’ it up”!
Depending on your preferences, you can simply add some flavoring such as cinnamon, or consider a favorite spirit to add a little “pop” to your drink. Need some help deciding which eggnog is best for you? Here’s some recipes to get you inspired! Cheers!
