Outdoor Décor

I know we’ve covered this topic in the past, but fall is one of my favorite times to decorate my porch and patio. Whether you lean towards small and simple, or grand and ornate, there are so many fun options for decorating for this season.

I try to keep my window boxes updated throughout the year; from pansies at the first sign of spring, to evergreens and berries in the throes of winter. I know everyone associates chrysanthemums for autumn, and rightfully so. But there are some fun alternatives that I love to use in my window boxes. Mini ornamental cabbages, marigolds, ornamental peppers and gourds make for a festive and colorful box.

Pumpkins and mums are kind of traditional fall décor, but there are so many ways to style your steps, your porch, your deck or your walk. Are you drawn to the traditional? If so, use orange pumpkins with pretty mums in shades of red, yellow and rust. A non-conformist? That’s fantastic too! Stack white and blue pumpkins and mix with white and purple mums. Or go crazy with every color of the rainbow!

Just want something small that says “I love fall, but I’m not going overboard?” There are so many wreaths for your front door that will fit the bill. Pine cones, leaves, acorns, corn husks, dried hydrangeas….either purchase one pre-made or look up DIY ideas to make your own!

We are so lucky to have the backdrop of nature’s beauty each fall. Have fun with decorating ideas and making your home fall fabulous!
