Break out the Books!
Reading has always been a favorite pastime of mine. Back in the day, I would peruse the library, pick up books from yard sales or swap paperbacks with friends. Nowadays, it’s mostly Audible that serves my addiction, but the relaxation that comes from a good read, is still the same.
Currently, I find myself drawn to reality based books, but have been known to pick up some fiction novels here and there too. For many of us, life can be hectic, and finding time to read is my biggest challenge. But when I do get the stolen hour or two, I love to get lost in the words of others.
On a warm, breezy summer afternoon, I love to sink into a chaise by the pool or hike down to my screened in summer “house” to read. In the winter, I’ll curl up by the fireplace and usually, with at least one cat on my lap. Either way, the escape of a good book brings a tranquility and comfort that is unequaled.
So as we look ahead, potentially to a winter of staying home a lot, I encourage you to find something you love to read, whether it’s a Russian spy novel, a romance or a biography. Put your feet up and get lost in someone else’s world!
