My Summer Project

My Summer Project

Do you ever look at something in your house or in your yard, that you’ve looked at a million times before, and all of a sudden it just doesn’t look right? It might look out of date, or faded, or for some reason, it just doesn’t make you smile anymore. That’s exactly what happened to me this spring. I looked at one of my rather large perennial gardens and decided it was time for a complete overhaul.

As the saying goes, it took “blood, sweat and tears” to complete this project and there were times I thought I might have bitten off more than I could chew. Weeds and diseased plants were dug up and thrown out. Rocks and boulders were brought in from other parts of my property. Fresh loam was brought in by the bucketfuls and careful decisions made on where to plant new flowers and bushes.

I had lots of help too, and here we are, mid-summer and we are finally done! I couldn’t be happier with the results and can now sit out on my patio and look out at my lovely new garden, which brings a smile back to my face. There is always a sense of accomplishment when you get to the end of a big project and I’m so glad we stuck with this one!
