National Adopt a Shelter Dog Month
October is National Adopt a Shelter Dog Month, sponsored by the ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals). This is a cause near and dear to my heart and so I wanted to share it with my followers.
While I currently share my home with my two wonderful cats, Claudette and Mr. Bud, I am a lover of ALL 4-legged friends and know that there is a large and continuing need to place abused and/or abandoned dogs in our country.

There are a number of reasons why dogs end up in shelters or rescue facilities. Weather related events, like the hurricanes in recent months, sometimes cause families to voluntarily or involuntarily give up their beloved pets, or the catastrophe itself forces a pet to become separated from its family. Other times, a pet may have been purchased or adopted, only to find out he/she isn’t a good fit for the family. And worst of all, some people who have dogs or other pets, treat them with cruelty, and the pet is removed from their home. Regardless of their situation, all these pups need a place to call their own. If you’ve been thinking about adding a dog to your home, there is no better time than now!
