Peruvian Splendor Collection
Peru, located in South America, is a country full of contrasts. A portion of the Amazon Rainforest runs through Peru, home to lush, tropical foliage, wild animals including monkeys and sloths and gorgeous birds such as the Toucan and the Macaw.
In addition, Peru is home to the ancient Incan City of Machu Picchu and numerous archaeological sites. The coast of Peru on the Pacific Ocean boasts beautiful beaches and the capital city of Lima holds a number of important art collections.
I was lucky enough to travel to Peru (and hope to go back someday!) This backdrop of lush greenery, the vibrancy of the fabrics and architecture, the brightly colored birds and the genuine happiness of all the people we met blended together to inspire my Peruvian Splendor Glassware Collection.
The green reminds me of the splendid countryside, the blues and yellows of the birds flying overhead, the purples and pinks and oranges of the hand-woven clothing and crafts, so lovingly created by the inhabitants of Peru.
As an artist, I believe that colors, patterns, designs and textures can evoke feelings and emotions. The Peruvian Splendor evokes memories for me of not just an adventure, but a cultural awakening.
